Day 1 in Sydney April 4, 2011

Trees!
We arrived in Sydney early in the morning on Monday. Doug picked us up at the airport with all 8, well, it turned out 7 of our bags and we headed to our new home.  We ended up leaving one bag in customs and had to return later to get it.  The apartment Doug found has the most incredible view of Sydney and beyond. We are on the 74th floor and you can only imagine what we can see from our windows! Tucker is in heaven as we can see the monorail, the central train station as well as the airport from our window. He loves to look out the window and say, "toot toot" when he sees a train. The building also has a pool which we have taken full advantage of everyday. Cooper is in heaven when he is in the water. He even went into the hot tub! The elevator or "lift" as it is called here is a big hit as well.

Our first adventure was a walk to a nearby park. It was full of all kinds of birds that we would only see in a zoo in the US.  The trees are enormous like those in the PNW only a different type (don't ask what kind).  Cooper tried to get his arms around one of them, but to no avail. The park was full of water fountains which thrilled Tucker to no end. He has now officially mastered the word "water."  On the way home from the park, we had our first Australian Starbucks- yum!  Not quite like home, but it didn't suck either. :)
Some kind of Ibis- they are all over!

The boys are adjusting really well. Cooper is so happy to see his dad. He has not stopped talking since we first saw Doug in the airport.  Tucker remembered Doug immediately and began saying, "Dada" and going up to him and saying, "Hi" and then walking away over and over. Pretty cute if I do say so myself.
