Lane Cove

Last week we finally took a trip out of the city to one of Sydney's northern suburbs.  Our new friends invited us to check out Lane Cove which is about a twenty minute bus ride from the city.  We were not only excited to see our friends, but we finally were going to go OVER the Sydney Harbour Bridge. I think we traversed the bridge one other time, very early on, but do not really remember. This time we went over it for sure and even have the photos to prove it! It is a beautiful bridge and the views of the harbour are breath-taking.  Here are the pictures we took from the bus. Forgive the innards of the bus in each photo...

Our friends met us at the bus stop in Lane Cove, We walked to the centre of town where they had a huge turf "lawn" for the kids to play on. They had a great time running around, climbing stairs, chasing one another and even chasing some bubbles. We made a quick stop in a toy shop where the kids touched everything they could get their hands on!  The only thing we walked out with were 2 construction hats- hey, every little boy needs a construction hat, right? :)

After some outside playtime, we walked to our friends' house.  Despite the fact that their furniture is on a container ship in some ocean between the US and AU, it was wonderful to be in a home.  The kids ran from room to room and were thrilled with the deck and sliding glass door. They played for a long time while us moms chatted away about, well, everything!  We had a nice home-made lunch and then headed back to the bus to Sydney.

It was a great morning. It was great to be out of the city, great to experience somewhere else, great to be outdoors, but mostly just great to be with good friends.

We found a new bird, but are still trying to figure out what it is!
