These gorgeous trees have "sprung up" all over Sydney in the last few weeks. They are called Jacaranda trees and are native to Brazil, but can be found all over the world. They are a stunning bluish-purplish colour and can be seen from quite a distance away. After hearing about this tree, I did a quick Google search and learned that the blooming of the Jacaranda tree in springtime is a sign that Christmas is just around the corner.
Christmas Where the Gum Trees Grow
(a traditional Australian Christmas song)
Christmas where the gum trees grow
There is no frost and there is no snow
Christmas in Australia's hot
Cold and frosty is what it's not
When the bloom of the jacaranda tree is here
Christmas time is near.
