I tried so hard to remember that today was the "Sea of Blue" police parade, but totally forgot. Then, just by chance, as Tucker and I were walking home from dropping Coop at school, we saw this--
A dozen police horses being walked down Crown Street. What luck to have been at that place at that time and to see this sight! And, to be reminded about the parade as well. Phew. Tucker was so excited! We followed the procession almost all the way to where the parade was to begin. Tucker had so much to say about the horses and how they were in a "line." But what he mostly liked was the fact that one of the horses pooped along the way...
We were a bit early, so we did a few errands then found a good spot on the parade route to watch. As we sat on the curb, Tucker was really nervous that we were going to be hit by a car. I tried explaining to him that the roads were closed off so we were safe. He sort of got it, but kept telling me to get back. He waved to all the police officers at they went by and even chanted, "Go police car go!" over and over.
Then the parade began. It was a very short parade, but there was a marching band and so many different vehicles to look at! All the officers were dressed in their uniforms- not just the regular police, but the specialty forces as well. Of course, the bicycle police were there as well as the police dogs-- even though Tuck kept telling me there were "no dogs allowed." Here are some pics from the event.
