My Birthday

Today was my birthday. I asked Cooper how old he thought I was and he said, "Three." Then I asked Tucker and he said, "Two...eight." :)

Cooper had big plans for the day- he wanted to buy me a gift (all by himself) and wanted to make me a cake.  So after a lazy morning, we grabbed a taxi and went to Target.  On the way to the store, I asked him how he was going to pay for the gift and he said, "Can I borrow your wallet for the day?"  I, of course, said no to that, but gave him $20 to spend. He was so sweet and so determined. He kept choosing things he wanted to get me-- a meat pounder, a potato masher and a water purifier were his first ideas, but since we had the first two and no need for the third, he tried again.  Finally, he told me to go to the next aisle so he could pick something for me. I did.  He chose the "mystery item," scanned it himself on the price checker and paid for it at the check out. He even asked for a bag so I could not see it. Then we had to go get some wrapping paper so he could wrap it.

After we got the gift and the wrapping paper, we stopped in the pet store at the mall.  I have to say I am not a fan of pet stores. I hate to see all those beautiful creatures caged up. Well, the fish don't bother me as much as the dogs and the birds.  I heard this strange screeching sound and found a cage with 4 brown birds in it. I had no idea what they were so I asked. They were quails!  I have never seen quails in a pet store before!  It was so strange.

After the pet store, we grabbed a bite to eat and then went back home. While we were in the lift, Coop turned to me and said. "Oh, no! I forgot to get you a bra! Can you have two birthdays so I can get you one?" Turns out he and Doug saw an infomercial....

Once back upstairs, Coop took a roll of tape, his scissors, the wrapping paper and the gift he picked (as well as a few other items) and went in my room. He must have spent 40 minutes wrapping the gifts.  Tucker hung out in the room with him and played while he wrapped and I got a little bit of peace and quiet so I could finish my lunch.  He then came out bearing three wrapped gifts and said, "Now it is time to celebrate your birthday!"
