A Day of Bigs

Today was a really nice day. Doug took Tucker out and about and Cooper and I were able to spend a few hours alone together.  We went out on a quest for some new shoes for Coop, but had no luck.  It is really hard to find kid shoes in downtown Sydney.  Anyway, we had a great time. We got to talk without being interrupted, we went up and down random escalators because we could and we walked and walked while holding hands.  Coop kept telling me what a great day it was.  While we were out we walked by the most enormous crane I have ever seen in my life right on George Street which is the main street in downtown.  Traffic was stopped and this crane was going about its crane business. We got a few pictures, but they do not do it justice.  Coop was of course amazed, but not speechless. :)

Later in the day, while looking out the window of our apartment, Doug noticed this cruise ship leaving Sydney Harbour.  It, like the crane, was enormous and actually quite a beautiful sight from our balcony.  I think I was the one that was most fascinated by its presence.

Coop and I set off again together to pick up some dinner at our favorite Thai restaurant a few blocks from our apartment.  On the way there is a statue of an enormous bull. I haven't read the plaque that tells why it is there, but Cooper has always loved it and considers it a secret of sorts between him and his dad.  Tonight I offered to take a picture of him with the bull and he agreed.  He can never remember it is a bull, instead he calls it a "barnhog."  I think that is a cross between a bull and a warthog....

We had a few minutes to wait while our dinner was prepared so Coop and I sat down at one of the tables and had a glass of water. All the waitresses at this restaurant know us because we go there quite often and they LOVE the boys. We have gotten to know of few of them by name and they have become  people we look forward to seeing when we are out and about.

On the way home, there is a big fish tank which Cooper loves to stop and look at when we are nearby.  Tonight there was a dead fish (partially decomposed) laying at the bottom of the tank.  Coop asked me what was wrong with the fish and I said it had died.  He was very sad.  Meanwhile other fish in the tank were eating the dead fish.  Coop said to me, "Aww, Mom isn't that nice they are giving that fish kisses." Yes, Coop that is exactly what they are doing. With that, I took his hand and we headed home.
