What a wonderful day it has been! I got to see the Pugs for the first time in almost 5 weeks! How amazing it was to walk into the kennel and see their sweet Pug faces looking at me. The joy and relief I felt at seeing them again is indescribable. I think it took them a second to figure out who I was. Manzie got it first and was so happy wagging her little rear end (not just her tail mind you- the whole hind end). I got lots of kisses from her. Tofie, on the other hand, was a bit more skeptical. She held back a bit then gave me a few licks to let me know that she remembered me and then proceeded to give me the cold shoulder for a bit. I am quite sure she was saying something like, "Um, hello, where the hell have you been and why did you leave me and then put me on multiple airplanes to end up here?" Eventually she got over it and cozied up on my lap like old times. The carrots I brought didn't hurt either...

I got to hang out and play with the dogs for about an hour while we waited for the vet to arrive. While there, I chatted with their attendant, Scott, who is so nice and will do an great job caring for them. He set up the girls' bed perfectly (just the way they like things- warm, cozy and layered for burrowing and accidents) and was even sure to create a path for Tofie to move around if needed. He asked lots of questions about the girls and listened attentively while I talked about them and their needs. The other attendants were just as friendly and curious about the dogs as well.

The vet, Dr. Mila, arrived and examined both the girls. Tofie went first and checked out just fine. Manzie had her turn and was a bit more of a challenge. She actually snapped at the dr. a few times- that is what the old Manzie would do! She was being super feisty! Thankfully, she too was determined to be healthy as well. I really like Dr. Mila. While she is no Dr. Theissen, I am pretty sure she will do for now. :)

I have to say here that the folks at Chambers Creek Vet back in Tacoma did an amazing job with the dogs. I am so happy that their stay there was uneventful yet full of love. Melissa took care of all the nitty-gritty, annoying details and made sure everything was in order for the transport. They are here in such good shape because of her and they are healthy because of the great staff at Chambers. They rock!

So, I got back to a taxi and headed back to the train station and about 2 hours later was back home with the family. It was a long day, but a great one.
Our girls are back with us. There is nothing better than that!

As the only animal people on this side of the family, we are thrilled that the pugs are o.k. We were very concerned.
ReplyDeleteGreat News, hope all goes as well before your family is really back together.

So were they in quarantine here? I can only imagine how hard that is! When we moved here our cat was 16 years old, and our dog had passed away a couple of years prior-- so we left the cat in our house with my mom. I'm so glad to see it all went well and you've got them!
ReplyDeleteThey are there now! They will be there until 4 June!
