Bronte and Tamarama Beach and Sculptures by the Sea

We had a wonderful afternoon/evening at Bronte and Tamarama Beaches.  We took the bus to the beach where we spend a little time digging in the sand and searching for sea shells while we waited for our friends to arrive. The waves were enormous! Apparently very dangerous as well although with the number of surfers out there you would never have known.  The water was six different shades of blues and simply gorgeous.

If you look towards the back of the photo below, you can see the swimming pool which is fed by the ocean. You can see the excess water spilling from the pool in the photo.

Every year at this time the city sponsors, Sculptures by the Sea, which takes place on several beaches along the coast. We were able to see quite a few of the sculptures at Tamarama Beach.   Here are some of the sculptures we saw:

This was most definitely the favorite of the kids. The artist had transformed street signs into rakes and hoes and people were invited to use them to make artwork in the sand. Cooper and Tucker spent a quite a bit of time raking, digging and smoothing the sand.

Below is the rock walls around Tamarama Beach- they are so cool- they look like wood!

Here is Tucker walking in some gardens.

Tucker's Real Birthday

Today was Tuck's real birthday and what a day it was! We began the morning with opening presents or shall I say present. His one and only family gift was a scooter and helmet which he has been asking for for months.  He was SO excited when he opened the box and saw what was inside. He quickly donned his helmet and jumped on his scooter and rode around the apartment. When it was time for breakfast, he propped the scooter right next to his chair and stood on the scooter to eat.  Coop got one too so they can ride together.

We dropped Coop at school and then headed to the gym for Tuck's first ever swim class. He LOVED it and looked so happy the whole time. He was so proud to swim in the big pool like Cooper.  After swim lessons, we stopped by Starbucks where they had a few gifts and a cupcake with candles waiting. All the baristas sang Happy Birthday while Tucker hid under the table.... He got 4 Starbucks mugs for his and Coop's at-home store as well as a real debit card machine that no longer works.  He also got 3 marshmallows and a coconut frapaccino.  Big day for him.  After the celebration we headed home where he received another gift from the concierge- how nice is that?? He is a really nice guy with two young boys of his own and the boys just adore him.  Then it was home to open a gift from Nana while skyping.  Finally nap time arrived-- we were both beat! After nap we picked Coop up from school and scooted our way back to Starbucks where another one of the baristas had a gift for Tucker!  Then to dinner with the family at a local Japanese place then home for yet another cake and BEDTIME! What an amazing day full of wonderful gifts, friends and surprises.

Here are some pics from the day.
